Insight Venture Partners led a Series D round financing that produced more than $40 million capital for WebTop publishing platform supplier Wix. Insight Venture Partners, as corporate investor, has Managing Director Jeff Horing participating as a member of the Board of Directors of Wix. Since it began in 2006, over 14 million websites were generated utilizing the Wix free website builder where end users can easily create awesome flash-based websites using easy-to-use templates and a drag-and-drop editing tool. Users can get additional features by purchasing the freemium model, the service where Wix gains revenues. The new investment from Jeff Horing and Insight Venture Partners will be utilized by Wix for its new social and mobile initiatives.
